DRDO Audit Report Submitted!

The much anticipated DRDO audit report was submitted on Wednesday by the panel that was set up just over a year ago, headed by Dr P Rama Rao, and comprising a host of others, including former IAF vice chief Air Marshal Ajit Bhavnani and Samtel chairman Satish K Kaura. The report is apparently exhaustive, with separate sections on each of DRDO's laboratories, the status of implementation of each recommendation by the Kelkar Committee, and most importantly -- a section on what it thinks should be shut down immediately by DRDO. Won't speculate -- will wait till I get my hands on the report. It'll be vetted by the Defence Ministry and the Cabinet before being implemented. Hopefully it won't be watered down by vested interests before it finally sees the light of day. Either way, we'll get the original report before long, so stay tuned. It's bound to be one interesting read.

Boy, it was practically yesterday that the Express bannered my report on the orders forming the DRDO audit panel with its terms of members and terms of reference. Time sure does fly...
