Press Release and Photos by the Navy: An eight member team of the Eastern Naval Command was flagged off on a Sailing Expedition from Naval jetty at INS Circars today. The expedition to Chennai and back, covering a total distance of nearly 1170-km is being undertaken by a team comprising two J-24 yachts with four crew members each. The J-24 yachts, with a length of 7.3 meters and a breadth of 2.7 meters, will test the physical and psychological fitness of the crew, considering the minimal space, living conditions and cooking facilities, not to mention inclement weather, swell, roll and pitching of the high seas. It is also planned to undertake similar missions to Paradip and Port Blair, later during the year.
