First Photo Of Indian Navy Heron UAV In Flight?

Found this picture in the officer's gymnasium on INS Jalashwa. Don't remember seeing any pictures so far of an Indian Navy Heron UAV in flight. Could be the first. The only other picture of a Heron in Indian service in flight is this IAF one from 2003.

The first photos of the Navy's Heron 2 equipped with ELTA's belly-mounted EL/M-2022(V)2 search radar were published in early 2005 by FORCE magazine. Have also got photos of the Indian Navy conducting trial launchers of the Searcher Mk2 from INS Viraat in early 2005.

Those R underwing antennas for the electronic intelligence system.

What glitters does not necessarily means gold ;)

Thats Heron 1 and not 2, which was @ Paris Air Show (2007) debut, they could not have bought them in the year 2005!

26-11 - shame on CONgress - must read

To keshto: You're getting confused between the Heron 2 and Heron TP. At Le Bourjet in June 2007 it was the Heron TP that made its debut. The Heron 2 has been in existence for almost eight years.

It is indeed regretful to see all the tamasha that took place two days ago in Mumbai and no one even bothering to mention the role played by the MARCOS in the first hours of 26/11 when it became the first responder to the unfolding crisis. A most shameful lapse of memory indeed!

Prasun its one n the same, TP stands for turbo prop. Heron 2/Mahatz 2/Heron TP/Eitan all are same....

QUOTE:

After increasing media attention IAI Malat has finally taken the wraps of its newest UAV and the largest yet to be built in Israel, the Heron TP (Heron 2). The choice of Paris Air Show 2007 as the first public showing of the UAV confirms the maturing nature of the UAV market in Europe and IAI says it was difficult to secure the permissions to exhibit the aircraft.

To keshto: All I'm saying is that the Heron 2 variant first unveilled by IAI/MALAT did not have a turboprop powerplant and it is this version that is presently operational with the armed forces of Australia, Canada, Germany and India. The Heron TP is the turboprop-powered version of the Heron 2.
