VIDEO: Excellent Video of The Admiral Gorshkov Aircraft Carrier's Journey

Superb video of how the Admiral Gorshkov became the INS Vikramaditya. Lots of first-time glimpses into the refit programme.

hmmm... great video....
pretty big BOAT haan!!!!!!!!!!!!
i guess a lot of us folks at home don get the complexity of building such mammoth ships.. the vid throws light on the TASK..

It's like trying to rebuild a car that was junked 10 years ago. Penny wise pound foolish?

They probably missed fixing things that will come back to haunt the end users.

The ship was dead......literally they gave it a new life.
They said missile artillery and electronic warfare equipments were dismantled.
I was thinking whether ship defence equipments are now installed in the INS vikramaditya or indigenous defence equipments will be installed?

Still great video.......

On Vikramadatya, its like, Russians were selling a horse to India for free, but with a condition to buy the donkey with it (compulsory) at 3 billion dollars.... have we not seen protracted price negotiations on this ??

You may call it fleecing or subterfuge!

Where there are suckers, there are swindlers.....

Keep in mind unlike other countries Russian has never sold any arms to Pakistan. They have offered us TOT more than any other country has offered. It is shame from Indian side that can not digest their knowledge & technology (Due to monopoly of Government restriction of not involving Private Industries).

Russians are very innovative and some times ahead of westerns (especially metallurgy and mechanical design). We should built upon their technology to make mass production of defence products with better quality control (Indian private company’s track record are very good in this). If GOI allows private company in defence sector (no % business) they can directly hire experts from around the globe and can give us state of the art equipment within India.

But our DRDO scientists, Netas and babus will not allow this to happen. No wonder China is thriving and we are making gin pig steps and claiming over self world power.

@Keshto those "suckers" are also swindlers who make millions and much more thru such "defense" deals. Have you forgotten that sardarji who was considered to be the best of Indian Navy and was found......??? The "suckers" are us poor Indian taxpayers who have no idea how they are being swindled by our own netas in the name of "defense".

You can pimp that hull all you want. It is still halfway through its design life, it is hopelessly limited by the absence of catapults, and when all is said and done India will have paid for it an amount not far off what a new ship would have cost.

The navy should bid for the leftover CV-F and have it fitted at the yard for CATOBAR operations. That would open the door to a much more capable air group than one made of Mig-29Ks and helicopters.

I don't believe this, we paid almost 3 billion $s for this heap of rusted metal? The Chinese paid just 20 million $s for the 80% complete brand new and much larger Varyag.
Just imagine how much kickbacks our babu netas and sipahis must have siphoned off in this deal. Is it any wonder that we are so dirt poor even though our economy is growing by leaps and bounds.

@Rajendra,

One look at Ambassador car will let you know the capacity of "Indian Pvt. industries" to absorb phoren technology.

Are you commenting on behalf of Nira Radia?

Rajendra said...

@Anonymous

Ambasador, Rajdoot and Enfield are products during license Raj era? Today our private sector is doing much more than that time (still we have long way to go). Nita Radia is mole on Indian system but do not forget there is always a Raja to allow many Radia.

China has allowed foreign industries ( In specific Electronic hardware manufacturing) much before India. Today, they have almost all now how in this sector and multi trillion $ reserves to support them. If India could have done same today world must have been chasing us. I feel Indian have all quality to excel however our hypocrite systems and wrong decisions are holding us back.

Again the PSU worshippers have come again to spew their hate speech.

Shut up already. We know quite well how adept DPSUs and Ordinance Factories are at manufacturing the same dated goods for decades and repainting imported components.

like it or not ...
its 2nd hand ship --yes, its costly --yes , its delayed in inducting --yes

BUT .. u won;t get a aircraft carrier at that price and TOT by any other country ..

somewhere navy chief said same ... tell me anyone willing to sell a aircraft carrier at that price . i'll happy to buy

On 29K:

The first contract is for 16 aircraft. Six have already come, of which we have accepted four

stop complaining over the price, what's done is done. The 2.33 Billion also includes the Mig-29K's. So the ship refit isn't as expensive as it looks. Plus you did watch the video right? They did an ungodly amount of work.
