IAF is not the only one stingy with praise.

Mr.Shiv ,u need abreak after Libya tour but use your sources to feed us valuable defence news.

One thing I agree on which the ACM has implied - whoever wins , the other is bound to raise a stink because of the huge amount of money involved. I work in a small private company dealing with government and for a few lacs , our competitors raise a stink, delay the buying process - even if we are technically correct and upto the specifications. Thats how governments work

why is this man justifying himself? if what he says is true then why the hell should we care what the US thinks? thats their problem, not ours.. its not like they make decisions that favour us when their own interests are at stake. The media is being a bitch..

He says he is willing to patent the MMRCA process ?

Who is he kidding?

1. All the MMRCA competitors failed at some stage or the other. Yet they picked 2 and dropped 4. Is this being objective?
2. The technical oversight committee in this gigantic deal actually met AFTER 4 jets were rejected. So no cross-checking of whether the IAF got it right or wrong. Just a cock-sure belief that his process was so brilliant it should be patented.
3. Last year, his office leaked to Times Now that the Rafale and Eurofighter were ahead. Then he told reporters in an off the record briefing that there was no technical downselect and that it was up to the MoD to select. But as it turns out, there WAS a technical downselect and 4 of the 6 jets were non-compliant so who are we to believe ?

@937
about your 1st point..can it not be that these 2 failed in non critical areas..or fewer critical areas...

@8:15

The two shortlisted fighters presently have only semi-evolved AESA radars. These were far less evolved when they were evaluated. Downselecting these jets is a HUGE leap of faith. The others, who have been rejected on grounds that their AESA radars are non-compliant or likely non-compliant have every reason to feel cheated.

From several sources, it appears the Eurofighter needed an external blower to pass the Leh test. Wasn't this considered an essential test.

Still, not doubting that the Rafale and the Typhoon are POTENTIALLY the best platforms out there. Its the selection process which was questionable since it is entirely subjective.
