'MMRCA, Inshallah By Year End': IAF Chief

"If the MMRCA contract is signed before the year end, it will be a big relief for us. Inshallah it will happen," said Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal N.A.K. Browne today at an industry event. Picking up unconfirmed word that the bids are likely to be opened mid-Sept.

Shiv ji, is the IAF serious about indigenous figth gen fighter MCA?? They were suppose to start final design this year and get a funding of 2 billion $. What happened to that? Post Aero India, the IAF chiefs hardly speak of this bird.

Waiting for your reply.

wasn't it within 5-6 weeks about a month or so ago. I bet Rs.10 that it won't happen by 31st Dec. Any timeline they have set so far, has been exceeded. Any time they say by "X" date, it should be read as "Not before "X" date".

Frankly speaking, the best purchases have been through the FMS route..the C-130, C-17 and P8I. Contests like MMRCA cause un-necessary delays which affect defense preparedness as well as cost allocations. The original goal of MMRCA was to acquire more Mirage-2000 a/c. But so much time has passed that the Mirages went End-of-Life and we are now forced to procure the more expensive a/c. It would have been easier had the defense procurement been handled by a private player who in-turn ties up with a foreign vendor and supplies the a/c's modified for Indian needs. Would prevent corruption and would ensure speedy delivery...

Talk , Talk and Talk . If he has the guts , let him resign if it does not happen . At least one Chief will go down in history as not being yellow.

Inshallah!
Since when have the military personnel - that too a chief, started invoking religious language in India? But, given how desperate its modernization efforts are, only Allah (not the almighty) can help. If not, its new chielf can always call on Bhagwaan, Guru, Jesus, Buddha, Mahavir. Religious language is a slippery slope.

I know how much you hate people using the word 'Inshallah', .:) you always called them pseudos and fakes:), especially when Sushmita Sen mentions it!!!

What kind of ignorant comments are these ? Please read up the how procurements are done in India before bullshitting like this in public. The fact is the airforce's role is over after submitting their technical and test flight data last year, now it's the. Babus of mod and finance ministry who are sitting on it for the last 1 year....read the chiefs comments again- he's as frustrated with this delay.

I've been hearing this for the last 10 years!

I mean, we all know of the shitty bureaucracy, but this just takes it to a whole different level.

All,

Why the hell are you bother about "INSHALLAH", Is't it one of our most spoken language in INDIA? People like you create religion and differences and when things go wrong we come back and say why do we have religion?

This conference was around EID, Guy was just cheering the crowd. We should be happy that in our country even though we are HINDU we respect every other religion/language.

Please stop sharing hate, every 3rd person you see is a muslim in our country and this country is there as much as its ours.

ACM NAK Browne is a Roman Catholic. 'Insha Allah' is a commonly used expression. Stop clinging on to these little things and making yourself look petty.

Instead of quarelling like immature kids on the block about a totally sane word Inshallah we must start thinking seriously about a movement the kind of Annaji and ask the govt. serious questions on the inordinate delays in opening and clearing all the defence tenders may it be for the airforce ,the army or the blue navy we aonly talking about. Also we must ask RAW to investigate if any spies of Chinese AND Pakis are imbedded in the decision making bodies of defence as most requirements of Defence for our armed forces are being delayed purposely for some stupid technicality or other which has a serious repurcussion on the defence of our motherland. Are we waiting for a repeat of 1962?
Please consider about spies at very high levels of procurement in the ministry of defence.

Later the better guys. Save tax payers' money that much longer. Mmrca is a white elephant : we will be paying billions more for years to come to keep these birds flying. If old mirage upgrade costs $45 mil does anyone think Rafales or EF will cost 70-80 mil only?!
RAF is already having tough time paying for EF spareparts. I don't even know why we have this purchase in first place. Already have 280 Su30 and LCA and Pak FA in pipeline.
Hey Ram it never happens.

It's matter of concern on the delays in finalizing the MMRCA deal. It was told that the opening of bids would be thru by end July/Aug '11 and today we are nowhere near to that. Given the IAF's depleting and deteriorating levels in force level would put our security in jeopardy.

Similarly, the howitzer deals, Scorepene's forever delay, maintenance of spares etc. put again put us to rely on our sole saviour the unknown Indian Soldier.

Hope the bureaucrats and top cops in Armed forces sitting inside the 4 walled comfort zone to wake up to realities and start act upon.

As there are people who trust on you...

pls ask the ministry of defence to do the purchases as soon as possible

I wonder what a shitstorm it would have raised had the ACM uttttered another equally or in India more often used greeting "Jai Sri Ram" instead of Inshallah..LOL...then all the seculars would have felt like a finger up their pit and would have started screaming...but since this is Inshallah its perfectly fine....what an hypocrisy !!!!
